Kate-Lan / Asheville, NC
My name is Kate-Lan, I’m a Vietnamese creator raised in the Appalachian Mountains. I have always been passionate about working with my hands. In high school, I explored various forms of art, including painting and pottery, which sparked my creative journey. As I grew older, I expanded my skills by becoming a certified welder and later learning the intricate art of glass both of these reignited my love for working with my hands.
Beyond welding and glassblowing, I have delved into many artistic practices, such as Bluegrass mandolin, mold making, and ceramics. My upbringing in the Appalachian mountains of the South plays a significant role in shaping my artistic vision, with the rich culture and natural beauty of the region continuously inspiring my work.
Everything I create reflects my diverse skills and the deep connection I have to both my heritage and people that have surrounded me throughout my life.
