What is Loy Krathong?

Loy Krathong is the annual Thai celebration known as the “festival of lights.” Celebrated in Thailand, Laos, and other regions in Southeast Asia that have a Thai or Tai heritage, the release of floating lanterns into rivers, streams, and other bodies of water is a way of honoring the Water Goddess, apologize for polluting the water, and symbolically wash away bad luck, sins, and negativity from the past year.

Loy means to float, and krathong is a small decorated basket or vessel. Each guest will create their own Krathong during the workshop segment of our event!
