Born with islander blood and once returning from a drowning, my relationship with water is full of nuance and strength. I am always called to water and whatever lies below, called to the cold mountain blood flowing through the veins of Appalachia. Now, after Hurricane Helene, the relationship with water and all who experienced the impact has undoubtedly transformed. I find that when caught in turbulence, knowing which way is up or down is only half the struggle, with the rest in how we move forward and respect Life after we Resurface from our storms.
